I thought it appropriate to impart to you my gratitude for the time you invested into my real estate campaign.  From meeting me on several occasions to cover listing details and open-house scheduling, to placing multiple ads on the internet and arranging for special on-line tours, you went beyond the call of duty to ensure my home received aggressive exposure, which produced a buyer during a time of fierce competition, and a price well above my expectation.

I used to scoff at the percentage real estate professionals command for mediating home sales, and I have had my share of agents whose lackluster prowess has underscored my impression of each as uninformed, out of touch with market trends, and hardly proactive.  However, since meeting and working with you, my faith has been restored, and my impression remade to accept the adage "you get what you pay for."  Given the challenges you faced (market surpluses, rising interest rates, and the pessimistic sentiment propagated by the media regarding a housing slow-down), in retrospect, your compensation was not enough.
